Fitnessista In Real Life

The end of a homeschool era

It was always supposed to be a temporary thing, and I'm feeling bittersweet about it all.

Hi friends! I hope you had an amazing Thanksgiving weekend! Ours was low-key and relaxing, and we’re looking forward to decorating for Christmas this week and I’m taking Liv to a concert.

Here’s a roundup of what’s happened on the blog lately:

Biohacking and Wellness Gifts

For Her

For Him

For the Kids

For Tweens

Thanksgiving Recap and Black Friday Faves

Reimagining Health Summit Recap

This morning was a huge treat… I went to my first hot yoga class in months. I haven’t been able to go since I’ve been doing the homeschool thing with P, and now that she’s back in school, I treated myself to a Monday morning class. It.was.everything.

Today, I wanted to chat a little bit about our homeschool journey, especially now that it’s come to an end. P went back to school a little over a week ago (her choice) and while we’re all still adjusting, she seems to be super happy. I’m just here crossing my fingers that it sticks.

A little background:

We pulled P out of school last spring after she got hit with some horrible anxiety. There were a lot of transitions happening: Liv had switched schools, the Pilot retired from the military, and while I still don’t quite know what set it off, our *chill* kid started refusing to go to school. We’d try to drop her off and she’d say her stomach was hurting, and cry and cry. (I was worried something had happened at school, but she assured me that it wasn’t the case. Also worth mentioning here that I did some food sensitivity testing and we discovered that she had a severe sensitivity to gluten. We’ve cut it out and she almost never says her stomach hurts now, and it used to bother her every day.)
